From high elevation adventures to low and close to town, there's something wonderful to discover with a little winter adventure around Cedar City! We've rounded up three of our favorite winter recreation activities in the area. From cross country skiing at 10,000 feet to a little winter hike just outside Cedar City, or even a scenic drive through the north side of Zion National Park. We're sure you'll find something to love!

1) Cross Country Ski Into Cedar Breaks
High Elevation Adventure
The fire and ice views of snow on red rock that come to Cedar Breaks in winter are more than worth the walk!
While the main road through the monument is closed to travel during winter months (and open to snowmobiles) the overlooks and sights are still available. Grab your warmest gear, a set of snowshoes or cross country skis, and hike into the monument for some truly breathtaking views.
TIPS: Start your hike at the NORTH entrance (Brian Head Side)

2) Enjoy a Hike through Thunderbird Gardens
Low(er) Elevation and Close to Home
Close to home base and beautiful scenery on top of it? How can we say no!
With a network of hiking trails zig-zagging throughout and even an 18-hole disc golf course, it's easy to spend a day exploring Thunderbird Gardens. Pack some sturdy hiking boots, bundle up, and enjoy some beautiful red rock scenery, just minutes from historic downtown Cedar City.
TIPS: Check out the Thor's Hideout Trail for great views and unique rock formations.

3) Scenic Drive and Hike Through Kolob Canyons
A little bit of a drive and right in between (elevation)
The lesser-known side of Zion National Park, Kolob Canyons is no less spectacular. Particularly in winter!
Enjoy the stunning views of rising crimson cliffs dusted with snow on the five-mile scenic drive. Stop at the overlooks along the way to capture images of the beautiful scenery. And if you feel up to it, bundle up, grab good boots, and hike the Timber Creek Overlook Trail. A short trail at the last scenic overlook, you can catch some incredible views along the way!
